PDX Games

PDS Health | PDX Games

PDS Health celebrates their people and their success each year with a grand, multi-day event that culminates in crowning a "Region of the Year." Enter "The PDX Games," our answer to a creative brief that would bring the four top regions to Hollywood for the taping of a custom game show (created by us, of course). Survivor meets Wipeout (our insurance wouldn't cover some of the wild ideas) meets dental care, as one does.

The result is an electrifying (and hilarious) team-based competition where regions go head-to-head in a series of high-energy challenges that test their knowledge, physical abilities, and strategic thinking. Guided by dynamic hosts, the competition heats up with each round as teams rack up points in their quest for glory. The ultimate stakes? Bragging rights, prizes, and the coveted title of PDS Health Region of the Year.

The Hosts

Every great game show lives and dies by its hosts. So we loaded the booth with comedy writing and acting duo David Fickas and Brice Beckham, who scripted the banter and let the improv fly. Then we put Alison Haislip on the floor to run the room. From G4's Attack of the Show to the first three seasons of American Ninja Warrior to being the first-ever on-air Social Media Correspondent on NBC's The Voice, Haislip has hosted it all. She kept the teams loose, the energy high, and the chaos pointed in the right direction.

The Games

We designed a lineup of original, dental-themed challenges built for maximum chaos and laughs.

We ran the whole thing like a live broadcast: seven cameras and a live switch, a two-day build and a two-day shoot at AKS Stages in Burbank. The final package came together as five full episodes, one per game, wrapped with a show intro, a show closer, and a proper "And the nominees are..." segment.

But the real magic? Treating PDS Health's employees like the Hollywood game show stars they became for the weekend. That experience was the whole point. Every region got its own green room, dedicated PAs on call for their every need, limo shuttles, and catering and craft services worthy of a real production. Then we suited them up in custom wardrobe, complete with their own Survivor-style team buffs.

The Show Package

Post set the pace. We cut it fast and funny, leaning on slow-mo to punctuate the big wins and the bigger wipeouts. For the design and graphics, we leaned into a modern take on a cheesy 80s game show look, all the neon-soaked nostalgia with none of the tracking lines. Then we wrapped the whole thing in a custom show package: an epic opener, lower thirds, transitions, stingers, and a live scoreboard tracking every region's climb to the top.

Live to Dallas

Here's the fun part. The competitions were real, but the title of Region of the Year is earned the old-fashioned way, through actual business performance, not tortilla-slapping accuracy. So we engineered a gloriously subjective points system to ensure the region that actually won "Region of the Year" won the PDX Games, too. Points for completing first and points for style. Fair? Rigged? A little bit of both!

The entire show was built to hand off to PDS Health's live XP event in Dallas, where the champion region was crowned in front of the whole company. The regions entered. Only one claimed the crown.

High production value, real purpose, and a room full of teams already gunning for a rematch. Let the games begin.
